P1 Engines Continues to raise the bar across the United States
April 4, 2011 - P1 Engines continues to raise the bar for success in North America as the California-based company had a great outing at the CalState Championship Round #2. Taking home multiple race wins and podiums in several different classes, P1 Engines powered drivers continue to show the way to the top step of the podium.
P1 Engines dominated the PRD divisions as they took top honors in PRD Senior, Junior and Junior 1. Looking untouchable throughout the race weekend, P1 Engines powered drivers in the PRD divisions swept the action at the technical California facility.
Matt Johnson PRD sr With 29 karts in the PRD Senior field, it was P1 driver Matt Johnson that bested the rest as he turned his second place qualifying effort into a race win when the dust had settled. In the PRD Junior 1 class it was Adam Iavelli that swept the class by taking the pole position, heat race win and main event victory with a pass on the penultimate lap. Following in the footsteps of Johnson and Iavelli it was Canadian pilot Parker Thompson who swept the action in PRD Junior. Fellow P1 Engines driver Jason Hannegan would challenge Thompson throughout the day but a bad start in the main event relegated him down the running order.
Thompson would not be done on the podium quite yet as he would also do battle in the KPV category scoring similar results. After taking the pole position and heat race win, Thompson went on to claim a dominating race win.
“The P1 Engines drivers are all having great seasons so far,” expressed Jesus Vasquez, Owner of P1 Engines. “The drivers are on multiple different chassis brands in several different classes with the only common item being the engine builder. It is a good feeling to have.” Adam Iavelli PRD Jr 1
Noah Garza would be one of the drivers to beat in the Comer division as a pole position in qualifying and a heat race win would set him up for a front row starting spot in the main event. Garza’s only falter on the day would come in the final as he narrowly missed the top spot but did manage to claim a second place podium result.
A few drivers would see battle in Komet as Skylar Estrada, Andrew Muruwatz and Royal McKee would utilize P1 Engines power. Estrada would have a very strong run in the main event to jump to the third and final podium position while McKee, who was a late entry, would eventually come home sixth. Andrew was able to make the podium with a fifth place result in both qualifying and the main event.
Vasquez continued, “While this weekend is over, we will begin to work hard towards the next one and continue the P1 Engines successes.”
Next on the docket for P1 Engines is the Pro Kart Challenge North/South Shootout at Buttonwillow Raceway in Buttonwillow, California. The event will take place this coming Friday and Saturday with the Los Angeles Kart Club wrapping up with a club race on Sunday.
